Brake Fluid Exchange

Keeping your braking system in top condition is very important.  One of the things you can do to keep your braking system in top shape is to periodically exchange or "flush" the brake fluid.  Some shops call this service a "brake flush" or a "brake fluid service."  In either case, you're flushing out the old fluid in favor of new fluid.  Why is this important?  Well, brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means is attracts and retains water.  Water in your brake lines is not a good thing; over time it can corrode brake lines, calipers and master cylinders.  All these components are expensive to repair or replace.  Water in the brake lines can also degrade braking force when the brake pedal is applied.  Regular flushing of the brake system will help prolong the life of your brake system and save you money in the long run.  Check out a video on this topic from our partners at Wynn's:
